Save Money Using the Van Der Hagen Traditional Safety Razor (Double-Edged Razor)

During the past several months, I have been using a double-edged (aka., safety razor) blade from Van Der Hagen to shave with. The Van Der Hagen Traditional Safety Razor blade is similar to what my grandfathers used for shaving their faces back in the day.

I feel that this shaving blade gives a closer shave and reduces razor burns, cuts, bleeding, bumps and infections. The unit price on the shaving blades are half the cost, or even more, than traditional cartridge blades.

The razor handle and blades take up less space than conventional cartridge razors.  The only thing that you dispose of is the 1/2 square-inch blade.

Traditional cartridge blades normally have two, three or as many as five blades.  Having 5 blades going across ones face at the same time can really irritate and damage the skin.

As a result of using the Van Der Hagen Traditional Safety Razor, my skin feels smoother and more refreshed.  I have been complemented that my skin looks clearer and is smoother as a result.  I also feel more satisfied because of less cost and waste associated with the Van Der Hagen Traditional Safety Razor. Plus, there is something satisfying about shaving with a safety razor that I cannot describe.

The Van Der Hagen Traditional Safety Razor can be purchased from Amazon, the product can be viewed below:

Grocery Cash Back Rebate Mobile App Review - Savings Star (Part 2)

As I mentioned, the Savings Star grocery store cash back rebate mobile app is another easy way to save money.  The grocery cash back rebate mobile app can be downloaded for free with an iphone or other mobile phone such as a Samsung.

So far over the past couple of months I have earned about $15 for basically doing nothing.  I just select the products on the app, buy the products at the grocery store, and either have the cash rebate automatically credit my account or scan the receipt and have the cash rebate automatically credit my account.  Again, you can get anywhere between 25 cents and several dollars ($5.00 for example) for purchasing the products that you click on.  Money can be deposited via PayPal, bank account or gift card when you are over the $5.00 threshold.

I know, $15 dollars every two months isn't a whole lot, but when you combine that with other grocery store cash back mobile apps (I have two others that I use) I can earn up to $300 a year for products / items that I use and for doing very little work.  Plus it's $300 of free money that you would never have if you didn't use the app.  Overall, I like the Savings Star grocery store cash back rebate mobile app, I don't get as much cash back from this app as I do from other apps but it is automated and easy to use.

Grocery Cash Back Rebate Mobile App Review - Savings Star (Part 1)

My next grocery cash back rebate mobile app review is for the Savings Star mobile app.  The grocery cash back rebate mobile app can be downloaded for free with an iphone or other mobile phone such as a Samsung.  Select grocery stores such as Giant, Safeway and Walmart participate in the program. Inside the app, you can click on select grocery store products such as fruit, vegetables, granola bars, soap, detergent, packaged snack foods, vitamins, over-the counter medicine and many more grocery store products.  You can linking your grocery store card to the cash back app or by taking a picture of the receipt and click on the items you wish to redeem.  You can get anywhere between 25 cents and several dollars ($5.00 for example) for purchasing the products that you click on.  Money can be deposited via PayPal, bank account or gift card when you are over the $5.00 threshold.

Pay off Federal Student Loan Debt or Credit Card Debt First. Which Should You Pay Off First?

Should one pay off a $5,000 federal college student loan with a 3.5% interest rate or $5,000 of credit card debt with 9.0% interest rate?  Generally one would think that it is best to pay off a $5,000 credit card because of the higher rate.   But did you know, that federal student loan debt is not dischargeable;  that is, if you file for bankruptcy, the student loan debt is not forgiven by the courts, whereas credit card debt is!  So the next time you are paying bills, weigh the options.
